Three-day long International Science and Technology Conference begins in Dhaka

International Conference on Science and Technology for Celebrating the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu- ICSTB 2021 has been launched at the Dhaka Campus of Bangladesh Council of Science and Industry Research(BCSIR). More than 1,000 scientists, researchers, engineers, academicians from home and abroad are going to join in the three-day-long conference. Researchers from Bangladesh, USA, Canada, Germany, China and India, are presenting their research work in their own body and virtual media for the first time in the history of the country. Out of the thousands of research papers submitted at the conference, 715 presentations are being presented. The conference was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak on Thursday morning. The minister called upon the scientists to continue research highlighting the aspirations and needs of the societies. Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman called upon scientists to play a leading role in conducting researches on innovative subjects. Meanwhile, AHM Ruhul Haque, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Science and Technology emphasized the importance of innovating new technologies for human welfare. Prof. Dr. Md. Aftab Ali Sheikh, Chairman, Bangladesh Council of Science and Industry Research (BCSIR) presided over the function while Dhaka South City Mayor, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, Secretary for Ministry of Science and Technology Md. Anwar Hossain was present on the stage and Dr. Shekhar Chandra Mande, CSIR General Director, India, joined the event virtually. After the inauguration of the conference, 3 plenary sessions were held in this conference. Former UGC Chairman Professor AK Azad, former VC of Bangabandhu Medical University Dr. Pran Gopal Datta and former Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, Mesbah Uddin Ahmed spoke in the first session. The second session was addressed by Dhaka University teacher Dr. Sultana Shafee, BUET Professor Satya Prasad Majumdar and Bangladesh Agricultural University VC Professor Lutful Hasan. In the last session of the day, Dr. Muhammad Zahid Hasan, Professor at The University of Princeton, USA, highlighted quantum geometrics. The session was also addressed by Dr. Hassan Jameel, Professor, NC State University, USA, Dr. Claus Rüscher, Professor, University of Hanover, Germany and Dr. Thorsten M. Gesing, Professor, University of Bremen. Highlighting Bangabandhu's keen interest in science and technology, the speakers said that no cosmetic development sustains, success was written on the path of science, technology and innovation, and therefore, there is no alternative to regular state patronage in this sector.
